Chapter ii · The visit
What a maintenance visit covers
A maintenance visit is work on a Sub-Zero that is still running: clean what needs cleaning, check what wears, measure what matters, and tell you what is on its way out before it fails. Sub-Zero Repair Cherry Hills works through the same list on every unit.
The list we work through
- Condenser coil and fan. Grille off, coil brushed and vacuumed along the fins, the fan blade cleaned and turned by hand to feel for a dry bearing.
- Door gaskets. Each edge checked for a seal, a split or a flattened corner, then wiped clean.
- Hinges and doors. Does each door swing shut and hold? A tired closing cam shows up here first.
- Defrost drain. The path the meltwater takes, checked for a blockage before it turns into ice under the drawers.
- Temperatures. Both compartments measured against Sub-Zero’s targets of 38°F and 0°F.
- Airflow inside. Vents found and freed; food packed against them chokes the compartment.
- Filters. The water filter’s status, and the air purification cartridge, which Sub-Zero says to change when its light flashes or after about a year.
- Ice maker. One harvest watched from fill to drop, on units that have one.
At the end you get a plain account of what we found, and nothing replaced without your say-so.
When to book it
Sub-Zero spaces condenser cleanings six to twelve months apart, closer together in homes with pets. In Cherry Hills Village we book one of those visits for just after the cottonwood cotton, so the coil goes into the hottest weeks clean. The cottonwood season page explains why, and the month-by-month list covers the rest of the year.
What it costs
The visit opens with the $89 call-out, which pays for the inspection. Cleaning and any repair are priced before they happen, and nothing goes ahead without your yes. If the list turns up a worn part, typical ranges are $320–$670 for a fan motor and $270–$670 for a door gasket. Ranges, not quotes: you approve one figure first, and the call-out counts toward it.
Before we come
Do I need to empty the refrigerator first?
No. The work happens at the grille, the doors and the drain, and we only move food to reach a vent or the drain opening. Clear the floor in front of the unit, and on a Designer model anything stored against the bottom grille, so we can get down to the coil.
What happens if the visit finds a fault?
You hear what it is, see where it is, and get a repair price before we touch it. Some faults can be put right on the spot when the part is in the van; others mean a second visit once the part arrives. Either way the call-out counts toward the repair you approve.
