Sub-Zero refrigerator repair in Cherry Hills Village
Most of this site is about keeping a Sub-Zero well. This chapter is for the day it stops being well: a section running warm, frost where none belongs, water under the drawers. Sub-Zero Repair Cherry Hills repairs built-in refrigerators and freezers across the village, Sub-Zero first and the other built-in makes too.
Where upkeep stops and repair begins
A maintenance visit works on a unit that still holds its temperatures. Some calls have gone past that point, and Sub-Zero draws the line itself: a refrigerator reading above 48°F while set at 38°F is unlikely to recover from a condenser cleaning, and needs service. The same goes for EC50 with Service flashing when the temperatures are high rather than close to normal.
Between those cases sits a grey zone, and the visit settles it. A flashing Vacuum Condenser message can mean nothing worse than a dirty coil, or it can mean a door that has stopped sealing, or a fault in the unit. We clean what needs it, measure again, and tell you which one it was.
What fails, and how you notice it
- One section runs warm while the other holds
Most often that section’s evaporator fan, a temperature sensor or the control board that reads it. fan motor $320–$670, control board $400–$1,020
- Frost spreading over the back wall
The defrost system has stopped clearing the coil behind that wall: a heater, its thermostat or a sensor. $290–$640
- Water under the crisper drawers
A blocked defrost drain first, which the maintenance list already covers. If the drain is clear and the water still comes, the defrost parts are next. $290–$640
- A new scrape, whine or hum
A fan motor going at its bearing, inside or at the condenser. It is why the maintenance list turns the condenser blade by hand. $320–$670
- The ice maker has stopped
The ice maker itself, the water valve that feeds it, or the supply line behind the unit. $300–$750 · The ice maker checks to try first
- A door that no longer seals
A torn gasket, or a hinge closing cam worn out under a heavy panel. When a gasket has cracked, ripped or torn, Sub-Zero’s advice is to have a technician fit the new one, and those gaskets are sold only through its parts distributors. $270–$670
- Both sides warm, the compressor never resting or never starting
Start parts and controls are checked first. The sealed system is the last thing we name, and the costliest. $1,340–$3,180
What a repair costs
Each visit is $89 with the diagnosis included; when you approve the repair, that $89 is credited against the bill. The figures above are part and labor on a Sub-Zero, a guide rather than a quote: you hear one price for your repair and approve it before any work starts. A repair that grows out of a maintenance visit follows the same rule, so the call-out is never paid twice.
Built-ins that are not Sub-Zero
Plenty of kitchens in the village were fitted with another make. We also repair built-in and column refrigerators from Thermador, Viking, Monogram, Miele and Liebherr. The visit and the rule are the same; the ranges on this page are Sub-Zero’s, so for those units the price comes once the diagnosis has named the part.
Cotton, heat and a tired fan
Wear does not keep a calendar, but here the cotton gives it one. Fluff that settles on the coil in June cuts the air through it just as the afternoons turn hot, and a condenser fan motor that was already worn has to carry the extra running. If the grille has gone grey and the compressor hardly rests, book the cleaning (the cottonwood season page explains the timing). If the fan blade stands still while the unit runs, book a repair: no cleaning brings back a motor that has failed.
Still under Sub-Zero’s warranty?
Check the installation date before you call anyone. Sub-Zero’s residential warranty covers all parts and labor for two years from the original installation, and the sealed system (compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier and the tubing between them) in full for five. Inside those windows, ring Sub-Zero first. Outside them, ring us at (720) 575-1433.
Repair questions
Can the repair happen during the maintenance visit?
Often, yes. When the failed part is one we carry, the visit carries on as a repair as soon as you approve the price. When it has to be ordered, we come back once it arrives, and the call-out you already paid still counts toward that repair.
Do you work on built-ins other than Sub-Zero?
Yes. Thermador, Viking, Monogram, Miele and Liebherr built-in and column refrigerators get the same $89 visit. Their repair price follows the diagnosis, because the ranges printed on this page are for Sub-Zero parts.
Should we clean the coil ourselves before we call?
If the grille face looks grey, a vacuum brush across it does no harm; Sub-Zero asks for no chemical cleaners and no bent fins. Then give the unit 24 hours. A fresh-food side still well above 38°F after that was not short of a cleaning.
